I'm not sure why people dislike these movies. I think it's due to how we as a society take things such as movies too seriously when they are only there to entertain us. These movies strike a perfect blend of historical drama and forklore. Before Disney announced their purchase of Lucasfilms, I honestly believed that this series could have been Disney's Star Wars. The first movie was a masterpiece that tends to get overlooked due to poor reception of its sequels. The second film is just as good as the first one. The third is when things started to get wonky but the third in a line usually always tends to be lesser than the ones that came before it. The fourth one, while weird that it didn't feature Will Turner, was still a wild adventure that struck that balance between forklore and history. It had a sort of Indiana Jones vibe that I don't understand the hatred of it. The fifth one was just as good. Considering that Disney is breaking the bank thanks in part to a sci-fi movie series, I could foresee more of these films being made. This franchise doesn't deserve the hate that it gets.
