I always hate it whenever I see a few online, such as Tumblr, who think this is something that is cool or unique to have. I can assure you now that the amount of detransitions are most likely attributed to those who are perfectly content with their assigned gender going through gender reassignment because they jumped onto a bandwagon so they could belong somewhere suddenly realizing that they came down with a legitimate case of gender dysphoria as they started to feel as if they were becoming the "wrong gender" and learned that they were perfectly content with who they were born as. What people are unaware of is that gender dysphoria goes both ways. If someone who doesn't have this disorder goes through reassignment this is where they will start to have an urge to detransition.
I can assume that the suicide rates among transgender individuals either occur from before they pursue gender reassignment, while in the progress of gender reassignment, or later on if the environment isn't supportive of someone with gender dysphoria.
The feeling of gender dysphoria isn't kind for someone who is temporarily off their medication for a short period of time in pursuit of sperm preservation. I highly recommend that those who ever had even the slightest passing thought of children to look into sperm preservation prior to going through hormone therapy.
Gender dysphoria isn't some trend. It isn't something that is going to pass for those affected by it. It isn't something that makes you cool for having it. It's a serious disorder as defined by the DSM-5. Fortunately, it is one where those affected could potentially lead a better life in contrast to mental illnesses that would damage one's life.
